儘管籃網17日以111比117不敵地主魔術，苦吞本季第18敗（7勝），不過籃網總教練艾金生仍很開心看到林書豪再次傷癒歸隊，畢竟豪哥一回來就拿17分、3助攻與3籃板的好表現，不過豪哥賽後表示，「我們讓對方罰太多球了。」
林書豪先前因為腿傷缺席17場，好不容易歸隊卻又傷到背部，幸好這次他只缺賽1場就宣告歸隊，畢竟17日僅是籃網客場3連戰的第1場，接下來要在19日出戰七六人、21日遭遇暴龍，籃網當然需要豪哥回來坐鎮。
「我想有了林書豪在場上，我們總能打出比較穩定水準，因為他很清楚在攻守兩端，我們該把球送到哪裡，」艾金生說，「我也不用親自喊太多戰術，他是個願意接受挑戰的小子，除了帶來穩定感，也找回我們季初的應有輪替模式。」
不過兩隊17日打來相當激烈，籃網全場發生32次犯規，比起魔術多出15次，造成魔術站上罰球線次數多達42次，他們也罰進33分，成為籃網最後關頭無力逆轉戰局的因素之一，看出這點的林書豪，卻用正面態度看待。
「我們讓對方站上罰球線太多次了，」僅替補上場打了20分鐘的林書豪說，「不過只要我們保持這種身體對抗強度下去，且努力學習如何利用這種優勢，我想我們沒問題的。」
